Job description: Mechanical Engineer 1 – Project/Sales Support

As a Mechanical Engineer I – Project/Sales Support, you will work under the guidance of the Lead Mechanical Engineer and work closely with other departments to ensure all technical requirements are met while adhering to the schedule and budget of contract manufacturing programs. You will also support sales with estimates and technical knowledge to ensure programs and offerings align with company capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Functions of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sales Support

  • Generate quotes/estimates for all manufactured goods, including bill of materials, operations, and labor requirements
  • Support sales in the application of JSI goods and services
  • Provides call support (sometimes after hours)
  • Provides knowledge to sales on products and offerings
Mechanical Engineering

  • Participate in design, development, and verification activities
  • Prepare technical drawings IAW ASME standards
  • Create Bills of Material (BOMs) for individual programs/projects;
  • Enter part numbers into the ERP database
  • Prepare designs that meet customer testing requirements
  • Prepare test plan reports IAW customer specifications
Project Engineering

  • Support Quality and Manufacturing with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical knowledge
  • Support Program Management with customer communication in regards to technical requirements, drawing issues, and manufacturing deviations
  • Support Purchasing with pre-project quotes and sourcing
Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in engineering role and degree
• 6+ years in engineering role without a degree
• 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Working experience in providing quotes/estimates
• Working knowledge and experience using Solidworks
• Experience with Solidworks PDM
• DoD or government contracts experience preferred
• Aircraft GSE experience preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100
• Demonstrated ability to perform high-level mathematical problem solving
• Ability to juggle several priorities simultaneously, paying attention to details and deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and practical problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Good working knowledge of personal computers and standard office software with the ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets
• Self-motivated and ability to work well with others
